JL Safety invests in equestrian sports
With 70 years of experience behind it, Lidköpings Ridklubb has created an important hub for children and young people in the area. Every week, about 440 individuals come to ride lessons in jumping and dressage and the activities for people with disabilities are large.

The best thing about the LRK is that you meet so many new friends and the best friends I have are here. The riding instructors teach me a lot about horses and riding, give me responsibility and let me develop.
-Tyra, 10 years old.
The fact that equestrian sport produces good leaders is supported by several research reports. It not only takes strength and courage to lead a 600kg animal safely, it takes knowledge, humility and authority. A horse needs supervision and care every day of the week, all year round, and it is not possible to ignore feeding, grooming and looking after the horse every day. For the members of Lidköping Riding Club, these are obvious chores, chores that promote loyalty, devotion and responsibility from an early age.
– It is safe at the riding club. There is always a member of staff to talk to if you need anything and the training for both children and adults in riding and care of the stables and equipment is great. Safety and the horse’s best interests always come first. There is a great commitment in the youth section and we do a lot together. We’re like a little family, so if someone is having a hard time, you can always talk to someone in the group, says Felicia, 17.
The youth section at Lidköping Riding Club consists of about 50 children and young people aged 6-25. They have their own board to plan activities together that are both fun, educational and finance equipment for the riding school horses. In this way, young people gain knowledge and development in organisational structure, entrepreneurship, responsibility and learn to lead others well together. Cohesion and participation are important and everyone can participate and contribute at their level of knowledge, will and ability.
– The best thing about LRK (Lidköpings Ridklubb) is that you meet so many new friends and the best friends I have are here. The riding instructors teach me a lot about horses and riding, give me responsibility and let me develop. I always feel seen here. In the youth section we do so many fun things together, for example Jönköping Horse Show, ghost night, rumour competition, it’s fun!, says Tyra, 10 years old.
For JL Satefy, it is important to promote the opportunity for children and young people to improve their quality of life through physical activity and social interaction through sports. With a focus on athletic girls, Lidköpings Ridklubb, with predominantly female members, is a forum where we can reach girls at a young age and influence them to take an interest in technology. We are keen to see an increased engagement of women in the field of technology, and getting girls interested at an early age increases the likelihood of more female employees in the future.
– We are proud to be seen in this business where we can be part of young people’s development that creates togetherness and security. Hopefully they will be our future employees, says Dan Assarsson, manager at JL Safety.
